In the tragic accident that occurred when a tour boat cruising in Istanbul's Golden Horn struck the pier of the Atatürk Bridge, ship crew member Yasin Konya fell into the water and lost his life. Search operations launched by the Coast Guard and the Maritime Port Directorate to find Konya, who lost his balance and sank into the waters due to the force of the collision, lasted 8 hours. As a result of the intensive efforts of divers, the body of the unfortunate crew member was recovered and taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
In Istanbul's Golden Horn, the lifeless body of a crew member who fell into the sea after a tour boat struck a bridge pier while passing under the Ataturk Bridge was recovered. Following approximately 8 hours of search and rescue efforts, the unfortunate man's body, retrieved from the water, was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
FELL INTO THE SEA DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE COLLISION
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. in Fatih's Golden Horn. According to the information obtained; the tour boat named 'Hero,' under the command of Mehmet P., was en route from the Golden Horn to Eminönü when it went out of control while passing under the Ataturk Bridge and struck the bridge pier. Due to the tremor caused by the collision, the ship crew member Yasin Konya, who was on duty at the bow of the boat, lost his balance and sank into the water.
8-HOUR SEARCH ENDED IN SORROW
Upon notification, the Harbor Branch Directorate and Coast Guard teams were promptly dispatched to the area. To find the crew member who fell into the sea, a comprehensive surface and underwater search operation was launched with the participation of divers. After approximately 8 hours of uninterrupted work by the teams, Konya's lifeless body was found.
The body of the unfortunate crew member was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue by ambulance for necessary examinations, while the investigation initiated by authorities into the cause of the accident continues.
