In a dispute over likes on TikTok in Kocaeli Gebze, 17-year-old Erencan Alparslan was seriously injured after being stabbed by a 16-year-old suspect, and his spleen was removed. The suspect was arrested.
CHASED AND STABBED
According to the allegations, on June 26 at Ali Kuşçu Park, I.O. (16) began chasing 11th-grade student Erencan Alparslan (17) with a knife, claiming he had liked his girlfriend's posts. It was reported that I.O. stabbed Erencan twice after he fell to the ground during the chase. Following a call from bystanders, health teams arrived at the scene, provided first aid, and the severely injured Erencan Alparslan was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
SENT TO PRISON
It was learned that the young man's spleen was removed during surgery. After the incident, the suspect I.O. was taken into custody by police and, following processing, was arrested and sent to prison by judicial authorities. It was reported that Alparslan's condition, who continues treatment in the intensive care unit of Kocaeli City Hospital, has shown improvement.
It was also learned that Erencan celebrated his birthday on June 19 and was scheduled to receive his report card the day after the incident.
"HIS SPLEEN WAS REMOVED"
The family, waiting for good news from their son at the hospital, reacted to the events. Father Ersin Alparslan stated that his son had taken leave from work to get his report card, saying, "The issue was about a girl. My son supposedly liked or messaged a boy's girlfriend on TikTok. That's all it was. My son was supposed to get his report card on Saturday. Erencan had taken leave from his master on Thursday for the report card. I didn't know. On Friday morning, I sent my child off thinking he went to work, but he never went. I don't know if someone called my son or if they just met. My son ran when he saw the knife, but when he fell, the suspect stabbed him just below the heart. Erencan has been in intensive care since Friday. His spleen has been removed."
"MY CHILD HAD DREAMS"
Ersin Alparslan concluded his words: "The suspect is also 16 years old. We initially thought he was not detained, but we were informed by the authorities. He is now in Ankara Sincan Closed Prison. My child had dreams. He wanted to be a soldier like his uncle. Maybe he won't be able to run or ride a bike. After all, he lost an organ. His lung and diaphragm were also damaged, and they couldn't save his spleen."
"MY SON ONLY SENT A LIKE"
Mother Serpil Alparslan said, "My son has been in intensive care for 4 days. The doctors say his condition is improving, thank God. God has given us our child back. It could have been worse. We want justice. My son only sent a like. He told his friend, 'Take care of this girl.' Then, according to my son, the suspect got angry. Everyone should watch over their children. I monitor my child's every breath. Don't leave your children unsupervised. We are in difficult times. We never know where harm will come from."
Demanding that justice be served, Serpil Alparslan cried, "I want justice. The suspect should receive the harshest punishment. It could have ended worse; my son could have died. Last week was Erencan's birthday. After this incident, my son was reborn. God spared him for us. I have four children, but Erencan is my firstborn. We are waiting for my son to be moved to the ward. He ended up like this because of a like. He only warned his friend to 'take care of the girl.' He was supposed to get his report card on Saturday."
