The construction of the drinking water treatment plant, costing 1.7 billion TL, and the wastewater treatment plant, costing 1.5 billion TL, by the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality is ongoing. With this major investment, the city's drinking and wastewater issues will be resolved for many years to come.

The Selahattin Ereren Drinking Water Treatment Plant, which provides drinking water services across Samsun, is currently operating at the capacity that can meet the city's needs. To respond to increasing demands, the SBB has started the construction of a new facility with a daily capacity of 200,000 m3 of drinking water treatment, with an investment of 1.7 billion TL. Mayor Halit Doğan emphasized that with the commissioning of new facilities in both drinking water and wastewater sectors, the drinking and wastewater issues in Samsun will be resolved for many years to come.

"WE ARE INVESTING 1.7 BILLION TL IN DRINKING WATER"

Stating that the construction of the drinking water treatment plant with a daily capacity of 200,000 m3 has begun, Mayor Halit Doğan said, "Samsun is a city that consumes 200,000 m3 of drinking water daily. Our existing drinking water treatment plant operates at a capacity of 200,000 m3. Our facility is operating at the limit. A new drinking water treatment plant with a capacity of 200,000 m3 is being constructed next to it. We are making an investment of approximately 1.7 billion TL. We will move all of SASKİ's reservoirs here. We will have our new drinking water facility operational by March 2027. We are working diligently to prevent the problems of Samsun in the next 50 years," he said.

We will start from the Atakum Wastewater Collector Line and go to the Eastern Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant and Deep Sea Discharge in Tekkeköy. We completed the piping work in these areas during the summer. We laid new pipes with a diameter of 1600 mm and doubled the capacity. All of our treatment plants in our 17 districts are operational. We are fully treating both wastewater and drinking water. By the end of the year, we will have laid 1 million meters of drinking water line. We are currently at 855,000 meters. We are working to improve the quality of drinking water in Samsun through subscriber connections and reservoir productions," he stated.
