Seeing the police in front of him, Zafer T. began to attack the woman he had taken hostage with a knife, prompting the police to fire two shots, neutralizing the hostage-taker. INJURED WOMAN TAKEN TO HOSPITALAfter the initial intervention at the scene, the woman was taken by ambulance to Balıkesir Atatürk City Hospital, where it was learned that her health condition is good. The body of Zafer T. was taken to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institution morgue for autopsy. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the incident. STATEMENT FROM BALIKESIR GOVERNORATEIn a statement made via social media regarding the incident, the Balıkesir Governorate used the following expressions: "A report was made regarding a woman being taken hostage by a male individual in a residence in the Gaziosmanpaşa neighborhood of Altıeylül district, and security forces and medical teams were urgently dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male individual named Z.T. had taken a woman hostage with a knife. The suspect, who responded negatively to all our teams' negotiation efforts and attacked the hostage with a knife, was neutralized by our security forces. The hostage woman has been transferred to the hospital and currently does not have any life-threatening conditions. We respectfully announce this to the public."
