In Izmir's Kemeraltı Bazaar, an intoxicated person tripped a young girl coming towards him for no reason and verbally abused her. While the individual was being beaten by the shopkeepers, he was taken into custody by the police. The incident was captured on security cameras.

A person in İzmir tripped a young girl who was shopping in the market and then insulted her with curses. After the incident, the suspect was beaten by the shopkeepers, and those moments were captured by security cameras.

TRIPPED AND CURSED

The incident occurred yesterday around 11:30 AM on Anafartalar Street in the Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar located in the Konak district. According to the information obtained, R.Z. (34), who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, tripped 17-year-old H.M.T., a Law Faculty student, as she was walking in the market. After being tripped, the young girl sought refuge in a shop, while R.Z. began to follow her. Later, the suspect R.Z. approached the young girl, hurling insults and curses.

SHOPKEEPERS INTERVENED

A local shopkeeper who did not remain indifferent to the incident approached R.Z. and first warned him. In response to the warning, the suspect R.Z. kicked the shopkeeper. After the kick, with the intervention of other shopkeepers, the suspect was beaten. Those moments were captured by security cameras.

"I DID WHAT I HAD TO DO"

Kazım Akmeşe (32), a döner shop owner who was the first to intervene during the incident, stated, "I was sitting on the corner yesterday. I was distracted by the road. A person passing by kicked the woman's foot. I waited for him to apologize. He went to the other side. Then the woman entered a shop, came out, and called her father. I thought, 'I hope there won't be a fight when the girl's father arrives,' so I pulled the suspect away. But the man didn't care at all. He started cursing at me. He pulled my clothes, and they tore. Then everyone got involved in the incident. I did what I had to do. That young girl could have been my mother or the sister of someone I love. I did my human duty. I would do it again if it happened again. Then the police took the man away," he explained.

HE WAS DETAINED

Another local shopkeeper, İbrahim Güneş (39), also noted: "The man tripped a woman's foot. The woman was disturbed by the situation. However, the suspect did not leave the scene. The man was drunk. He did not let go of the woman. My boss intervened in the incident. When we saw him, we couldn't hold back either, and we beat the man. Later, the municipal police and shopkeepers intervened." After the incident, the suspect R.Z. was detained by the police and taken to the police station for his statement.
