Joe DiMeo's life changed in 2018 due to a horrific accident. The 26-year-old young man fell asleep at the wheel while returning from a night shift, and his vehicle caught fire. DiMeo, who was rescued from the flames by two people, had 80% of his body severely burned. After spending two months in a coma in the hospital, DiMeo underwent more than 20 surgeries. However, the real miracle happened in 2020. DiMeo, who was the first person in the world to receive both a face and double hand transplant from the same donor, survived a 23-hour surgery with only a 6% chance of success. DiMeo's story didn't end there. 33-year-old nurse Jessica Koby followed his fight for survival on social media and was moved to send him a message. The two started messaging each other, then met, and fell in love. Jessica describes DiMeo: "He was shy at first, but he opened up over time. He is very knowledgeable and kind. Despite all the hardships he has faced, his positive outlook on life has greatly impressed me. I fell in love with both his personality and his heart." DiMeo recently proposed to Jessica. The couple's engagement photos received great attention on social media. Many people wrote supportive messages for this beautiful love story. After intense physical therapy, DiMeo has returned to his normal life and can now drive a car. The couple says they have started preparing for their wedding and are hopeful about the future.
