The incident occurred at 23:20 in the Toptepe neighborhood of the Canik district, at a gas station next to Lovelet AVM. Soil and rock fragments that broke off from the mountain fell into the car wash section of the gas station. A car present there was trapped under the debris.
RESCUE REACHED THE CAR TRAPPED UNDER THE DEBRIS
Upon notification, a large number of search and rescue and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. As a result of the efforts, the mother, Çiğdem Kaya, was rescued injured from the rubble and taken to the hospital. In the operations supported by heavy machinery, the car trapped under the debris was reached first. An examination of the vehicle revealed that the father, Adem Kaya (36), and his children, Açelya (5) and Alya Kaya (7), had lost their lives. The lifeless bodies were removed from the vehicle and sent to the Samsun Forensic Medicine Group Presidency.
