Koray Ergun, one of the veteran names in Turkish theater, cinema, and television, passed away at the age of 68. Ergun had most recently appeared in the TRT series Teşkilat.
The experienced name of Turkish performing arts and screen projects, Koray Ergun, passed away at the age of 68.
The artist, who had performed on important stages such as Ankara Art Theater (AST) and Ekin Theater for many years, gained the appreciation of a wide audience with both his performances in theater works and his characters in cinema and series roles.
CHILDREN ANNOUNCED The master actor's death was announced by his children on Instagram. In the shared post, the expressions "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our father. May his place be paradise" were used.
A TUMOR HAD BEEN DETECTED IN HIS BRAIN The master actor had announced in a post last February that a tumor had been detected in his brain. Koray Ergun had used the following expressions:
"Dear friends, my friends, my brothers
On February 5, I was admitted to the hospital due to loss of strength in my left hand. As a result of the MRI with medication in the emergency room, a tumor with a diameter of 3 cm was found in my brain. Following this, on 6.02.2025 at 5:43 in the morning, a 5-hour micro-surgery operation took place. The tomography results showed that all parts were cleaned. We will receive the biopsy results on the 15th. I thank all my friends who are looking for me. In the meantime, due to this illness, I have had to pause my role in the play I was performing at Ankara Ekin Theater. I announce that I will not be able to participate in the tours of the play 'Memleketin Kısmeti' in Dalaman, Muğla, Bodrum, Milas, and Marmaris. May all my friends have an open path and plenty of applause. I have only just seen the posts today because I was able to leave the intensive care unit for the ward today. Thank you to all my friends."
Having worked for many years in established institutions such as Ankara Art Theater, Ergun took on a wide range of roles from "Bizim Evin Halleri" to "Behzat Ç.", from the film "Ayla" to the series "Teşkilat."
