12 people, including Seferihisar Mayor İsmail Yetişkin, who were detained as part of the investigation led by the Seferihisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, have been arrested.
In the third wave of operations conducted on June 25 as part of the "bribery" investigation against the Seferihisar Municipality in Izmir, 25 people were detained, including Seferihisar Mayor Ismail Yetiskin, Balcova Mayor Onur Yigit, municipal employees, and businesspeople.
In addition to the mayors, the investigation stated that the suspects, including municipal officials and contractors involved in construction and zoning matters, received and gave bribes in cash and through bank transfers in exchange for irregularities; it was also noted that there were money transfers considered as bribes before the March 31, 2024 elections.
Among the suspects, Esin Uysal, the Director of Zoning and Urbanization, was arrested by the court after being referred to the courthouse following her procedures at the police station in recent days. Additionally, M.Y., the mother of Balcova Mayor Onur Yigit, who was detained as part of the operation, was released on Saturday after giving her statement at the police station.
ONUR YIGIT AND 1 SUSPECT PLACED UNDER HOUSE ARREST
Among the suspects detained as part of the operation against the Seferihisar Municipality and referred to the courthouse yesterday, Balcova Mayor Onur Yigit and Dogus Bayir, a CHP member of the Izmir Metropolitan and Guzelbahce Municipal Council, were placed under house arrest. The other suspect, Ertan K., who was alleged to be the owner of an illegal building, was released after his statement at the prosecutor's office.
