The mayor of the İYİ Party, Gökhan Mustafa Demirtaş, was arrested in Gülüç, a town in the Karadeniz Ereğli district of Zonguldak, and AK Party member Atilla Tarık Semiz was elected as the deputy mayor.

1 VOTE DIFFERENCE IN SECRET BALLOT

During the municipal council meeting held at the Gülüç Wedding Hall, the candidates for the deputy mayor were Semiz from the AK Party and Sedat Taşdelen from the İYİ Party. In the election conducted by secret ballot, Semiz received 5 votes, while Taşdelen received 4 votes.

After the election, AKP Zonguldak Member of Parliament Saffet Bozkurt, AKP Karadeniz Ereğli District Chairman Muhammet Mücahit Andiç, AKP Gülüç Town Chairman İsmail Yılmaz, council members, and party members congratulated Semiz, who was elected as deputy mayor.

Gökhan Mustafa Demirtaş, the Mayor, who was sentenced to 3 years, 1 month, and 15 days in prison for the crime of "sexual assault by harassment" in a case where he was tried for allegedly sexually assaulting female staff working at the Gülüç Municipality, was detained in Eskişehir on October 31 and sent to prison.
