It has been announced that Ümit Alagöz, the Mayor of Tefenni in Burdur who resigned from the MHP, has joined the Victory Party. This marks the first time the Victory Party will govern a municipality.
In recent years, the Victory Party, which has made a name for itself in the political agenda, especially with its stance on immigration, did not achieve the success it expected in the last local elections. The Victory Party, which reached a vote rate of 1.77% nationwide in Turkey, did not win any municipalities.
'THE CLAIM THAT THE MUNICIPALITY HAS PASSED TO THE VICTORY PARTY'
However, with the Victory Party's latest move, it came very close to managing a municipality. It was claimed that Ümit Alagöz, the Mayor of Burdur Tefenni, who announced his resignation from the MHP with a scathing statement a few months ago, has joined the Victory Party. Additionally, it was suggested that Levent Tokmaker, the MHP Chairman of the Burdur Provincial General Assembly, has also joined the Victory Party. If the news is confirmed, the Victory Party will have won a municipality for the first time.
WHAT DID HE SAY WHEN RESIGNING?
In his resignation statement, Alagöz said, "Now, I wish success to those who will try to learn the cause and organization from those who pretend to be nationalists, who work against the MHP for its failure when they cannot take office, when they are dismissed, when they are not nominated, from those who insult us, from those who slander us, and from those who are associated with them, from those who do not even take the January magazine, from those who do not have a single positive word about them in the public eye, from those who do not attend the General Chairman's rally and encourage their circles not to come, from those who pretend to be nationalists and those who live off nationalism."
