Millions of workers are focused on minimum wage negotiations. In the third meeting held this week, no figures were presented at the table. After the meeting, Türk-İş shared its expectations regarding the wage increase rate. The workers' side demanded 29,583 lira. All eyes are on the fourth meeting scheduled for next week.

THE MEETING THAT MILLIONS ARE WAITING FOR IS APPROACHING!

The process of determining the new minimum wage, which directly concerns 7 million workers and indirectly affects the entire society, continues. The minimum wage to be implemented in 2025 has been postponed to the fourth meeting. As the focus shifts to the new week for the fourth meeting, it is expected that the minimum wage, which will be valid in the new year, will be clarified in this meeting. The employers' side is represented by the Turkish Employers' Associations Confederation (TİSK), while the workers' side is represented by Türk-İş, as it has the most members.

"WE WILL NOT LET WORKERS BE CRUSHED BY INFLATION"

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated after the third meeting, "We will increase the welfare of our workers without letting them be crushed by inflation, and we will also protect the competitive power of our employers."

WORKERS' EXPECTATION IS 29,583 LIRA

Türk-İş announced its demand for the minimum wage. Workers declared their demand for the minimum wage as 29,583 lira based on a 45% inflation rate and a 20% welfare share. Türk-İş General President Ergun Atalay said, "If they give this, we will sign; if they don't, we won't be there." The Türk-İş President expressed that the purchasing power of retirees, public workers, and minimum wage earners has decreased.

WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE ANNOUNCED?

The new minimum wage is expected to be determined and shared with the public between December 23-27. According to the law, the minimum wage must be determined by the end of December.

MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE SCENARIOS

If a 20% increase is made, the minimum wage will rise to 20,402 lira. If a 25% increase is made in January, the new minimum wage will be 21,252 lira. If a 30% increase is applied to the minimum wage, it will rise to 22,102 lira. In the case of a 35% increase, it will reach 22,952 lira. If a 40% increase is made, the new minimum wage will be at the level of 23,802 lira.

MINIMUM WAGE IS 17,002 LIRA

The minimum wage is currently applied as a gross monthly amount of 20,002 lira and 50 kuruş for a worker, and after deductions, the net amount is 17,002 lira and 12 kuruş. The total cost of the minimum wage to the employer is 23,502 lira and 94 kuruş for one worker. Of this, 20,002 lira and 50 kuruş is the gross minimum wage, 3,100 lira and 39 kuruş is the social security premium, and 400 lira and 5 kuruş is the employer's unemployment insurance fund.
