The long-awaited snow news for millions of citizens living in the megacity of Istanbul has finally arrived. Ahmet Köse, the second president of the Chamber of Meteorological Engineers, stated, "We will receive approximately 15 days of snowfall from mid-January to the end of February." Meanwhile, consecutive warnings have been issued for many provinces.

The 2nd President of the Chamber of Meteorological Engineers, Ahmet Köse, announced that Istanbul will receive 15 days of snowfall during the two-month period from mid-January to February.

"WE WILL ENCOUNTER PRECIPITATION AGAIN"

The 2nd President of the Chamber of Meteorological Engineers, Ahmet Köse, used the following statements in his weather evaluations: "We do not expect rain in the first week of January. We do not expect rainy weather in the first days of the New Year, but starting from the 7th, we will encounter precipitation again with the cold air coming from the Balkans. Our expectation is that we will receive approximately 15 days of snowfall from mid-January to the end of February this year."

NUMEROUS WARNINGS FROM METEOROLOGY FOR MANY PROVINCES

According to the latest forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: It is predicted that the general area of the country will be partly and very cloudy, with rain expected in the Mediterranean, the eastern and southern parts of Central Anatolia, the Central Black Sea coasts, the western part of Southeastern Anatolia, as well as in Yalova, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Denizli, Afyonkarahisar, Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, Amasya, Tokat, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, and Malatya regions, along with the southern part of Ankara, the northern part of Konya, and the western parts of Erzincan, Tunceli, and Elazığ.

It is expected that the precipitation will generally be in the form of mixed rain and snow, while in the Western Mediterranean coasts, Eastern Mediterranean, Central Black Sea coasts, the western part of Southeastern Anatolia, as well as in Kocaeli, Yalova, Sakarya, Denizli, Amasya, Tokat, Trabzon, and Rize regions, it will be in the form of rain and showers. It is predicted that the precipitation will be locally strong in the Eastern Mediterranean and in the areas of Adıyaman, Gaziantep, and Kilis. Frost and fog are expected in the inner and eastern parts of our country. There is an avalanche risk in the high and steep slopes of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the eastern part of Eastern Anatolia.

AIR TEMPERATURE: It is predicted that there will be no significant change in air temperatures and that they will remain around seasonal norms.

WIND: It is expected that the wind will generally blow lightly from the north, occasionally at a moderate strength, and strongly (40-60 km/h) along the Aegean coasts.

WARNINGS

STRONG PRECIPITATION WARNING: Since the precipitation is expected to be strong in the Eastern Mediterranean and in the areas of Adıyaman, Gaziantep, and Kilis, caution and preparedness should be taken against possible disruptions in transportation, floods, water inundation, and landslides.

STRONG WIND WARNING: Since the wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) along the Aegean coasts, caution and preparedness should be taken against possible disruptions in transportation, roof blow-offs, and other adverse conditions.

FROST AND AVALANCHE RISK WARNING: Caution and preparedness should be taken against avalanche risks, frost, freezing, and possible disruptions in transportation in the high and steep slopes of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the eastern part of Eastern Anatolia.
