POSSIBILITY OF SNOW IN ISTANBUL AT NIGHT
Due to the drop and rise in air temperatures during the day, sudden changes are expected, especially in the western regions. The Meteorology has issued warnings for strong winds and precipitation in many provinces, including Istanbul. It is assessed that there may be sleet and snowfall in some districts of the city starting from midnight.
WIND MAY REACH 90 KM/H
Another important aspect of the warnings is the wind. In the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea, and the western part of Eastern Anatolia, the wind is expected to blow strongly from southern directions, occasionally in the form of a storm. It has been noted that the wind speed may reach 50-70 km/h, and in higher elevations, it may rise to 80-90 km/h. Therefore, caution is advised against negative impacts such as roof blow-offs, tree falls, and disruptions in transportation.
RISK OF ICING, FROST, AND AVALANCHE
The Meteorology also warned against icing and frost events in the eastern parts of the country. It was stated that there is a risk of avalanche in the high areas of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and in sloped areas with a high snow cover in the east of Eastern Anatolia.
