At the Germencik location of the Aydın-İzmir Highway, a tour bus carrying 45 Polish tourists collided with a minibus. Both vehicles crossed the barriers and rolled into a ravine. In the accident, the minibus driver, 58-year-old Ali Şevket Yavuz, and his 65-year-old older brother Orhan Yavuz lost their lives, while 9 people on the tour bus were injured. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
Two brothers lost their lives in an accident that occurred on the highway in Germencik. Nine people were injured on the tour bus carrying Polish tourists.
THEY COLLIDED WHILE PULLING OUT FROM THE SHOULDER
The accident occurred around 14:30 at the Germencik location of the Aydın-İzmir Highway. The tour bus with license plate 09 HR 284, driven by Erkan Elalmış (44), traveling from İzmir to Didim, crashed into the minibus with license plate 48 S 4064, driven by Ali Şevket Yavuz, who was trying to pull out from the shoulder. There were 45 passengers of Polish nationality on the tour bus.
BOTH VEHICLES ROLLED DOWN THE EMBANKMENT
After the collision, both vehicles went over the barriers and rolled down the embankment. Upon notification, medical and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area.
TWO BROTHERS LOST THEIR LIVES
In the accident, minibus driver Ali Şevket Yavuz and his brother Orhan Yavuz, who was beside him, lost their lives. Nine people on the tour bus were injured. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulances, and it was reported that their treatment is ongoing.
TOURISTS WERE TAKEN TO DİDİM BY ANOTHER BUS
After the accident, the passengers of Polish nationality on the tour bus were transferred to another bus and taken to Didim.
Gendarmerie teams launched an investigation into the accident.
