The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced that the claims regarding "the plan to purchase 500 vehicles with the 2025 budget" do not reflect the truth.
In a written statement from the ministry, it was mentioned that CHP İzmir Deputy Sevda Erdan Kılıç claimed, "The Ministry of Treasury and Finance plans to purchase 500 vehicles with the 2025 budget."
In the statement, which indicated that the claim is "false," it was stated, "The Honorable Deputy was informed about the matter yesterday and has stated that he will make the necessary correction due to his misunderstanding. However, since some newspapers have reported the issue in a misleading way with headlines like 'Minister Şimşek is establishing a fleet for himself,' it has been deemed necessary to inform the public correctly." CLAIMS DENIEDIn the statement emphasizing that it is not possible to purchase vehicles unless it is foreseen in the budget according to the Vehicle Law, it was noted: "However, it is also necessary to meet the urgent and mandatory vehicle needs of other institutions that arise during the year. Therefore, the alleged 500 vehicles are not directly related to our Ministry, and in the annexed T table of the Budget Law, it is clearly stated that the usage area of these vehicles is 'to meet the needs of the administrations within the scope of central government.' In this context, the alleged 500 vehicles are not allocated for the use of our Ministry, but it is planned to allocate domestic and electric Togg vehicles for the purpose of meeting the mandatory vehicle needs of public administrations, in exchange for liquidation and under the public procurement guarantee." THE CLAIM WAS RAISED BY CHP DEPUTYCHP İzmir Deputy Sevda Erdan Kılıç stated that despite the prohibition of vehicle purchases for public use for three years in the presidential decree published on May 17, according to the 2025 budget, 2,298 vehicles would be purchased, including 500 for the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. Kılıç said, "According to the budget proposal, the Ministry of Justice will purchase 145 vehicles, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 35 vehicles, the Ministry of Health (excluding ambulances) 53 vehicles, the Ministry of Family and Social Services 30 vehicles, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism 10 vehicles, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization 19 vehicles, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 15 vehicles, the Presidency of Religious Affairs 6 vehicles, AFAD 25 vehicles, and the Revenue Administration 85 vehicles."
