One person died and eight others were injured in the collapse of a 3-storey building in Küçükçekmece. The moment of collapse was captured second by second by the on-board camera of an IETT bus, and in the video, it can be seen that the building collapsed towards the bus moving on the road and the bus narrowly escaped being trapped under the building.
In Kartaltepe neighborhood of Küçükçekmece, a 3-story building collapsed at around 08:40 for reasons yet to be determined. Upon notification, numerous AFAD, search and rescue, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. A total of 8 people, including a child named A.C, were rescued injured from under the collapsed building.
COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE ALL INTERVENTIONS
M.A., S.D., K.P., A.C., C.C., A.B., K.Y.A., and D.C., who were rescued from the wreckage, were referred to the hospital after initial treatment. D.C. could not be saved despite all interventions. S.D. is still in critical condition.
SILENT LISTENING CONTINUES
In the latest statement from Istanbul Governorship, it was stated that "the last person trapped in the wreckage of the collapsed building in Küçükçekmece has also been rescued injured. 1 person lost their life and 8 people were injured in the incident. Currently, there is no person remaining in the wreckage, and search and rescue teams are continuing their listening efforts in the wreckage."
