The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has published a new list against food fraudsters that threaten consumer health. In this context, the Ministry is revealing companies that engage in food fraud one by one. While many products are found to be fraudulent in these lists, olive oil stands out the most in this area.

The list published at least once a week details various frauds in many areas, from breakfast products to spices, dairy products to meat products. In the lists published by the ministry, olive oil is often the most fraudulent product, and this situation has not changed in the latest list released.

THE MOST FRAUDULENT PRODUCT THIS WEEK IS OLIVE OIL

The list published on the first day of the week revealed a reality: just like in previous weeks, olive oil continues to be the clear leader among food products that are most imitated and adulterated.

FRAUD IN OLIVE OIL OCCURS IN TWO WAYS

Fraud in olive oil is highlighted in two ways. The first type of fraud occurs by adding vegetable oil to olive oil. Sunflower oil and corn oil, known as liquid oils, are added to increase the amount of olive oil. Another commonly used method of fraud in olive oil is the addition of plant oil. In this case, oil obtained by pressing the seeds of various plants is added to olive oil in an undetectable amount, thereby increasing the total liters of olive oil.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE PRODUCTS

In both methods of fraud, it is nearly impossible to detect the fraud in olive oil. However, the ministry can identify the components in these products one by one by examining them in laboratories using sensitive materials. Therefore, food experts emphasize that consumers should pay attention to the list of fraudsters published by the ministry during their purchases and avoid products from brands that are subject to fraud, imitation, and adulteration.
