In the last 4 days in Istanbul, 38 people have died due to counterfeit alcohol, and it is stated that the most striking symptom of methanol poisoning is the blue discoloration of the skin. Experts indicate that blue discoloration is observed on the lips and fingertips due to oxygen deficiency, and they report that symptoms such as vision problems, nausea, and shortness of breath are also present.
While 38 of the 92 people who sought treatment in hospitals due to counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul lost their lives, 26 of the 46 patients currently being treated in hospitals have been intubated.

- Shortness of Breath and Loss of Consciousness: Advanced poisoning can lead to shortness of breath and loss of consciousness.
- Blue Color Change in the Skin: Due to oxygen deficiency, a blue color change may be observed in the lips and fingertips.
- Seizures and Mental Confusion: Effects on the central nervous system can lead to seizures and mental confusion.
