03.01.2025 10:02

A 7-year-old child in Fatih was found dead in his bed after being beaten with a metal hanger by his mother and step-sister. In the indictment prepared regarding the child's death, it was requested that the mother and sister be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison each.

On November 17, 2023, in the Fatih district of Istanbul, 7-year-old Servet Nabıeva was assaulted by her Uzbek mother and step-sister. The child, who lost consciousness and was assaulted again after regaining consciousness, was found motionless on a mattress on the floor of the room. Initial examinations revealed that the child had died, and injuries and bruises were found on visible parts of her body.

STEP-SISTER BEAT HER WITH A METAL HANGER

An indictment was prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the death of 7-year-old Servet. In the indictment, the statement of Servet's step-sister Mehrıbonu Nabıeva (20) was included, where she stated that on the day of the incident, she became angry after seeing Servet, who had just come out of the shower, approaching and hugging her 5-year-old sister Melek while wearing a t-shirt and nothing else. She then hit Servet on the back and legs with a metal hanger, after which her sister fainted, and she splashed water on her face to wake her up.

THIS TIME, THE MOTHER BEAT THE CHILD WHO HAD REGAINED CONSCIOUSNESS

In the indictment, it was stated that after the suspect Mehrıbonu told her mother about what her sister had done, the mother became angry and slapped the child several times. It was noted that after beating Servet, the mother forced her to eat something, but the child vomited what she had eaten, then fell asleep. The next day, when she woke up, she saw her sister lying motionless in bed and mentioned that she might have died due to her previous health issues.

MOTHER SAID, "I DID NOT ASSAULT"

The suspect mother Nılufar Nabıeva stated in her testimony that when she came home, she listened to the situation and slapped her daughter Mehrıbonu, but claimed that she did not assault Servet.

THE AUTOPSY REPORT REVEALED DEATH DUE TO ASSAULT

According to the autopsy report from the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was determined that there was a link between the general bodily trauma the child had suffered and her death. The indictment stated that as a result of the actions of the suspect mother and sister, Servet, who was injured, ultimately passed away the next day, and it was noted that no concrete determination could be made regarding the suspects' intent to kill.

REQUEST FOR UP TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON FOR MOTHER AND SISTER

In the prepared indictment, it was requested that the suspects Mehrıbonu Nabıeva and Nılufar Nabıeva be sentenced to 8 to 12 years in prison for the crime of "causing death by intentional injury." The trial of the suspect mother and daughter will begin in the coming days at the Heavy Penal Court.
