Sultan Günaydın, who killed her daughter Tuba Günaydın by strangling her during an argument in Samsun and then attempted to cut her wrists to make it look like a suicide, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court for the crime of 'Intentional Murder,' despite her saying "I regret" during the hearing.
After strangling and breaking the neck of her teacher daughter Tuba Günaydın (34) during an argument, Sultan Günaydın (59) attempted to make it look like a suicide by cutting her wrists and was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment.
The incident occurred on April 9, 2025, around 03:30 in the Esenevler neighborhood of Atakum district. According to the allegations, a dispute broke out between Tuba Günaydın, a Psychological Counseling and Guidance Teacher at Sakarya Primary School, and her mother Sultan Günaydın. As the argument escalated, a struggle occurred between the mother and daughter in the bathroom of the house. Later, Sultan Günaydın called the 112 Emergency Call Center, reporting that her daughter had cut her wrist and committed suicide. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The investigation revealed that Tuba Günaydın had been strangled and her neck broken, and it was determined that her mother, the suspect, had also cut her daughter's wrists to make the incident look like a suicide.
MOTHER ARRESTED
The lifeless body of Tuba Günaydın, who separated from her husband in 2021, was taken to the Samsun Forensic Medicine Group Presidency for autopsy. Sultan Günaydın, who was detained by the police, stated in her testimony that her daughter had called her to the bathroom, and as soon as she went there, her daughter attacked her, and when she realized she was dead, she tried to make it look like a suicide. The suspect, whose procedures at the police station were completed, was arrested at the courthouse to which she was referred.
SHE SAID SHE REGRETTED
An indictment was prepared by the Samsun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Sultan Günaydın for the crime of 'Intentional Killing' with a request for aggravated life imprisonment. The indictment was accepted by the Samsun 1st High Criminal Court. The final hearing of the case was held today. When asked for her last words, the defendant expressed her regret. The court panel sentenced the defendant to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'Intentional Killing.'
