The death sentence imposed on a mother who caused the death of her stepchild by torturing him in the city of Urmia, located in Iran's West Azerbaijan province, has been carried out.
A woman who caused the death of her stepchild by torturing her was executed in the city of Urumiye, located in Iran's West Azerbaijan province.
According to the Iranian official news agency IRNA, Naser Atabati, the Director of Justice for West Azerbaijan Province, stated, "The biological mother of the child named Ava, who died as a result of her stepmother's torture, had requested retribution against the perpetrator. The retribution sentence was carried out this morning."
Atabati argued that the public also demanded the execution to be carried out through retribution, emphasizing that the death sentence was approved by both the court and the Supreme Court.
TORTURED A 4-YEAR-OLD CHILD CAUSING HER DEATH
Ava, who was hospitalized in 2023 at the age of just 4 due to suspected brain damage, passed away after a 10-day struggle for life. Investigations revealed that the brain damage was caused by the torture inflicted by her stepmother. The stepmother had been held in prison for 2 years.
