The incident occurred in May 2024 at a motel in Houston. Police, responding to a tip, found the 4-month-old baby named Brookelynn Fancher unresponsive inside a drawer. The baby died at the scene.
According to the autopsy report, the baby died from suffocation. The investigation revealed that Campos and Fancher wrapped towels around the drawer to muffle the baby's cries and repeatedly placed the baby there.
Campos confessed in court that she had repeatedly closed the baby in the drawer. It was also revealed that Campos was 7 months pregnant. The baby's grandmother, Lisa Farrell, made the following statements after the incident:
"They are both guilty. They ruined my granddaughter's life. Justice must be served.
My granddaughter will never see her graduation, nor will she experience her wedding... She will never experience anything."
