A mysterious person alarmed the neighborhood in the Mersincik District of Derince, Kocaeli. Around 6:00 PM, a person aged 25-30, carrying a suitcase and wearing a red fleece, wandered the neighborhood street by street. Later, he knocked on the door of Murat Yahşi.
KNOCKED ON THE SUSPICIOUS DOOR AND WANTED TO DRINK TEA AT HOME
The door was opened by the homeowner's daughter. The mysterious person asked if anyone was home. Upon this, the child called for her father. Murat Yahşi, who came to the door, asked the unfamiliar person what he wanted. The person said he wanted to enter the house and drink tea. Yahşi replied that the house was not suitable, but if he really wanted to drink tea, he could take him to the neighborhood café.
THE NEIGHBORS BECAME UNEASY
The person, who was not keen on the offer, wanted to enter again. After the homeowner resisted, he left the house with a harsh demeanor. Suspecting the situation and feeling anxious, Murat Yahşi called the neighborhood head, Yakup Çolak, and explained the situation. The head, who received similar complaints from other neighbors, called the police with Yahşi. The police, who arrived in the neighborhood, found the mysterious person at the mosque. The person was taken to the police station by the police teams. Following this, information sharing about the person began among the residents. After many people reported feeling disturbed by the same individual, head Çolak and father Yahşi went to the police station to file a complaint.
DISAPPEARED WITHOUT A TRACE
After learning that the person was not brought to the center from the police station, the head and his neighbor returned to the neighborhood. Concerned about potential harm to their families and homes, the residents began searching for the person in the streets. However, they could not find any trace of him again.
"HE SAID, 'I AM THE PERSON SENT BY ALLAH'"
Describing the anxiety they experienced, Murat Yahşi said, "I came home around 6:00 PM. The doorbell rang around 6:30 PM. A person came to my house. My child opened the door. He asked, 'Is anyone home?' I came to the door. He said to me, 'I came to drink tea.' I said, 'I don't know you. If you want to drink tea, let's go to the café.' He didn't want to go to the café; he specifically wanted to enter my house. He had a suitcase, and I asked about his bag. He tried to approach me in a different way. Suddenly, he turned around and said, 'I am the person sent by Allah.' I didn't engage further; I let him go," he said.
"HE COULD HAVE HARMED OUR CHILDREN"
Yahşi, who stated that he contacted the head, said, "Later, we reported the situation to the police. Before the person came to my house, he had asked my opposite neighbor if he knew me. He had seen a few more people and checked a few more houses. As residents, we are currently uneasy. We have children. We might not have been home. He could have harmed our children. There could be theft incidents in the coming days. Several other residents have also reported to the police," he said.
"I WANT THE PERSON TO BE INVESTIGATED"
Yahşi, who stated that everyone knows each other in the neighborhood, said, "There are no harmful people in our neighborhood. We leave our homes and leave our children. We may have personal belongings in front of our doors. We don't know if he is a thief or not. We are uneasy because we don't know what he is. When something unusual happens, we first consult our head as our elder. Necessary actions are taken accordingly. This person may have marked us in his mind. He might come back and want to harm us. We are uneasy because we don't know who he is. We don't know or recognize the person. We are disturbed. I want the person to be investigated," he said.
"MY COMMISSIONER SAID THE PERSON IS INSANE"
Mersincik Neighborhood Head Yakup Çolak stated regarding the incident, "Such things do not happen in our neighborhood. When they do, it seems strange to us. In the evening, our brother Murat came. He told us that there was a person in the neighborhood whose identity we did not know, and that the police had taken this person away. We went to our police station to find out if the person was there. He was not there. We were told that necessary procedures were being carried out. Maybe they took him to the hospital; we don't know. My commissioner told us that the person is insane. This person is someone we do not know. He has also gone to a few more of our friends' houses. He wandered in front of other houses. He said, 'I came to drink tea.' He is a strange-looking man whom we do not know. Our neighborhood residents have been disturbed by this. They came and informed us, and we reported it to our law enforcement. They said they did what was necessary. After the police, we walked the streets with friends, but we could not find the person. Hopefully, nothing like this will happen again," he said.
