The Defense Minister of the new administration established in Syria, Murhef Ebu Kasra, stated that it is 'not correct' for the PKK/YPG to have a unit within the Ministry of Defense, and announced that they have rejected the terrorist organization's proposal to establish a 'special unit.'
The new Defense Minister of the administration established in Syria, Murhef Ebu Kasra, made statements regarding the integration of armed groups into the army.
REJECTION OF PKK/YPG'S SPECIAL UNIT PROPOSAL
Ebu Kasra announced that they rejected the proposal of the PKK/YPG, which uses the name SDF in Syria, to establish a 'special unit', stating that it is 'not appropriate' for the terrorist organization to have a special unit within the Ministry of Defense.
"TERRORIST ORGANIZATION IS DELAYING THE INTEGRATION PROCESS"
Speaking to Reuters, Ebu Kasra also evaluated the discussions held with PKK/YPG leaders. He accused the terrorist organization of 'delaying' the integration talks, asserting that the Syrian state has the right to include armed groups into the army.
"WE HOPE TO COMPLETE THE INTEGRATION PROCESS"
Additionally, Ebu Kasra expressed that they hope to complete the integration process, including the appointment of some senior military officials, by the date of March 1, when the term of the transitional government in Syria will end.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In a recent statement, the so-called commander of the PKK/YPG, Mazlum Abdi, said that they are open to integration with the Ministry of Defense but that they can only do so as a 'military bloc' and without disbanding. Thus, Ebu Kasra has shelved this proposal.
