The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, spoke during the discussions of the 2025 Central Government budget law proposal and the 2023 central government final account law proposal of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and its affiliated institutions in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Minister Uraloğlu mentioned their efforts in air transportation, stating that they increased the number of airports from 26 to 58, the air terminal capacity from 55 million to 347 million, the number of countries with air transport agreements from 81 to 179, the number of international flight destinations from 60 to 348, and the number of aircraft from 150 to 702. He also recalled that they opened the Çukurova International Airport, the Kayseri Airport Terminal Building, and the second runway of Sabiha Gökçen Airport during the year.
TWO NEW AIRPORTS WILL BE OPENED
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu stated that Turkey ranked 3rd among European countries and 7th in the world in the total passenger traffic ranking of European and World Airports last year in air transportation. The number of air passengers was 213 million in 2023, and it will be 231 million this year. Our 52 passenger and environmentally friendly airports have achieved significant success by qualifying for certification in the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program of the International Airports Council. We will put the third runway and tower of Esenboğa Airport into service in 2025, and our Gümüşhane-Bayburt and Yozgat airports will be operational in 2026.
