On Monday, July 28, at 09:30, a passerby noticed a person lying motionless in the forested area in Bahçeköy, a district of Sarıyer in Istanbul. Upon notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams, which arrived shortly, took precautions by cordoning off the area. Health teams determined that the person lying motionless had passed away.
WITH A BLACK TRASH BAG ON HIS HEAD
Crime scene investigation teams observed that the male corpse, believed to be around 25 years old, had a trash bag on its head and was taped. It was also determined that there was packing tape, a note in Russian, and a black shoulder bag containing a mobile phone, an Istanbul transportation card, money, and various items next to the corpse. After the examination by the Public Prosecutor, the body of the person, who is thought to have been strangled, was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution Morgue.
THE NOTE IN HIS HAND HAS EMERGED
Police teams that initiated an investigation related to the incident identified the dormitory where he stayed based on the door card found in the bag. The police conducting the investigation also determined that the corpse belonged to Usman Amriev, a Russian citizen. It was revealed that the note found crumpled in Amriev's hand was typed on a computer.
"EVERYONE WILL FACE THEIR OWN PUNISHMENT"
In the note examined by the police, it was written: "My dear mother, I hope these words never reach you. Because I will be falsely accused, do not believe them. If this letter has reached you, it means I am dead. I swear I only sought the truth, but it all came to nothing. I will not be remembered as one of the scholars in history. They will not write me in the books, but everyone will face their own punishment. I beg you, do not let them bury me as a submissive." It was also determined that the continuation of the note included the 153rd verse of Surah Al-Baqarah written in Arabic letters.
MOVED FROM KÜTAHYA TO ISTANBUL
Police teams continuing their investigations related to the incident learned that Usman Amriev came to Turkey for education about 3 years ago. It was revealed that Amriev, who studied for a half term at a state university in Kütahya, later moved to Istanbul. Here, it was determined that he started studying at a private university in Kağıthane.
ROUTE OF ARRIVAL HAS BEEN DETERMINED
Police teams examining the Istanbul Card found on Amriev started working on security camera footage from the past. In the investigations, it was learned that Amriev stayed in a private dormitory in Şişli. It was determined that hours before the incident, Amriev entered a stationery store in Mecidiyeköy and left with a piece of paper, heading back to the dormitory, and later took the metro in Mecidiyeköy, getting off at Hacıosman.
HE CAME TO THE PLACE WHERE HE WAS FOUND BY BUS
It was learned that Amriev, who boarded the IETT bus from Hacıosman, got off in Bahçeköy and started walking on foot, disappearing from sight. Amriev's cousin, who lives abroad, stated that he last knew he went to the bank to withdraw money and had not heard from him since. It was learned that investigations are ongoing, with efforts being deepened based on the findings obtained. Police teams are investigating whether the incident was a suicide or a murder from all angles.
