941 NEW SUSPECTED CASES IN THE LAST 24 HOURS
According to a report by the Dhaka Tribune, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health in Bangladesh announced that 941 new suspected measles cases were detected across the country in the last 24 hours. Thus, the total number of suspected cases has reached 99,207.
OVER 82,000 PEOPLE HOSPITALIZED
The statement noted that the number of people hospitalized with suspected measles since April 10 has risen to 82,844. It was reported that 79,152 of these individuals have been discharged after treatment.
EMERGENCY VACCINATION CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED
The Bangladeshi government had decided to launch an emergency vaccination campaign nationwide on April 7, following the deaths of many children due to suspected measles.
Measles, which can lead to serious complications such as pneumonia and encephalopathy, is among the leading causes of vaccine-preventable deaths worldwide.
