In a program organized in collaboration with the Hatay Governorship and the Metropolitan Municipality, 7 local products, including Alinazik and Hatay Yellow Silk, received geographical indications. Speaking at the ceremony where the number of registered products reached 57, Governor Mustafa Masatlı stated that their goal is to achieve first place in Turkey with 135 registrations.
Hatay, which has been included in the "Creative Cities Network" by UNESCO, continues to enhance its brand value in the field of gastronomy. At the "Geographical Indication Promotion Program" held at the Antakya Gastronomy Market in collaboration with the Hatay Governorship and Hatay Metropolitan Municipality (HBB), 7 new registrations were added to the city's cultural heritage.
7 Newly Registered Products
The new products registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office within the scope of the program are as follows:
- Alinazik
- Hatay Spinach Pie
- Hatay Olive Salad
- Hatay Halavet Kebab
- Hatay Sakalkaldıran Dessert
- Antakya Bread Crust
- Hatay Yellow Silk
With these latest additions, the number of geographical indication products in Hatay has increased to 57.
Hatay Governor Masatlı: The Goal is to be Number One in Turkey
Speaking at the ceremony, Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı emphasized the city's gastronomic potential and stated that the registration efforts are ongoing without slowing down. He noted that they started the process with 25 geographical indications and have reached 57 products, saying, "We want to register over 600 of our values one by one and promote them to both Turkey and the world. We also have products that are currently in the application process. When they are registered, our number will reach 135, and we will be the number one in Turkey."
Öntürk: We are Investing in the Future
Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Öntürk expressed that the registration efforts symbolize the city's recovery process. Highlighting the importance of preserving Hatay's rich culinary culture, Öntürk stated, "The registration of these flavors means not only respect for the past but also an investment in the future."
Öntürk also announced that the tourism master plan conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been completed, adding that they aim to attract visitors from all over the world with a comprehensive development plan covering everything from infrastructure to gastronomy.
