EFFORTS AGAINST THE RISK OF FROST, DROUGHT, AND DISEASE IN THE FOOD SECTOR

"THE PERCEPTION THAT WE IMPORT MEAT DOES NOT REFLECT THE TRUTH"

Addressing the misconceptions in the public regarding red meat, Minister Yumaklı stated that Turkey is largely self-sufficient in meat production, saying, "Turkey is currently about 90-93% self-sufficient in red meat production. The perception that 'we import all the meat' is not correct. The amount imported is only 7-10% of total consumption. If you compare the carcass price in Europe with the price on supermarket shelves in Turkey, it becomes manipulation."
