In the Hendek district of Sakarya, 35-year-old Naim Karagüzel, who was seriously injured in the explosion at the Oba Makarna factory on September 15, passed away after 29 days of treatment. A total of 5 people lost their lives as a result of the explosion.

On Sunday, September 15, an explosion occurred at the Oba Makarna factory located at the Hendek toll booths on the Sakarya Hendek Anadolu Highway, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to 30 others. During the ongoing cooling efforts by the fire department, the lifeless body of 27-year-old Mesut Şimay was found inside the factory, and he was laid to rest in the Akyazı district on September 16. 22-year-old Eray Kızıldağ, who was severely injured in the explosion and lost his 20-day battle for life at Kocaeli City Hospital, was also laid to rest on Saturday, October 5, in the Hendek district. 24-year-old Güven Albayrak, who was severely injured in the explosion and passed away in the Burn Unit of Istanbul Kartal Training and Research Hospital, was buried in Düzce 25 days later. Merve Menteş (26), who was receiving treatment in the Burn Unit of Istanbul Kartal Training and Research Hospital, was laid to rest in the Hendek district on Friday, October 11, after a 26-day battle for life.

LOST HIS 29-DAY BATTLE FOR LIFE

The number of those who lost their lives after being severely injured in the explosion has risen to 5 today. 35-year-old Naim Karagüzel, who was being treated at Kocaeli City Hospital, also lost his 29-day battle for life. Karagüzel is expected to be buried in the Hendek district.

FACTORY MANAGER ARRESTED

Meanwhile, within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Hendek Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 7 suspects, including factory owners and managers, were summoned to the Hendek Courthouse for questioning on September 19. An arrest warrant was issued for 6 suspects after their statements were completed. One person was released after their statement was taken. On September 20, 6 suspects who underwent health checks and were taken to the Hendek Courthouse included factory manager V.U., who was arrested and sent to prison; the factory owners, one occupational safety expert, the mill supervisor, and the electrical maintenance expert were released under judicial control conditions.
