Hatice Demir, who suffered a second-degree burn on her leg after wrapping it with herbs to relieve her pain in Erzurum, is waiting for the day she will heal at Erzurum City Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.

SHE WRAPPED HER PAINFUL LEG WITH HERBS

Demir, a 73-year-old mother of six living in the Ulubağ neighborhood of the Uzundere district, wrapped her aching right leg with "water mint" instead of having it examined by a doctor a week ago. After boiling the herb and tying it to her leg, Demir's pain increased even more.

BURNS OCCURRED ON HER LEG

Upon opening the bandage, Demir saw swelling and deep burns on her leg. She was taken to Erzurum City Hospital with the help of her relatives and was put under treatment. After the initial intervention here, Demir was referred to the Burn Treatment Center and told AA reporter that she regretted not having her burned leg examined by a doctor because she wrapped it with herbs.

"I WISH I HAD GONE TO THE DOCTOR"

Expressing that her treatment at the center is going well and that she is very upset about the unfortunate incident that happened to her, Demir said, "I would like to thank the doctor, nurses, and staff at the burn treatment center. They were very attentive, and my treatment is going well. No one should attempt such things; I wish I had gone to the doctor for the pain in my legs, and I hope to heal quickly and regain my health."

Associate Professor Dr. Ayetullah Temiz, the head of the hospital's Burn Treatment Center, stated that Demir, who wrapped her leg with herbs for pain treatment, developed a second-degree deep burn on her leg.

Temiz reported that as a result of the patient's decision to attempt such a remedy instead of going to the doctor, her legs were burned, and he noted: "We have many patients who use herbal medicine and get burned by wrapping herbs. There have been severe cases in the past that we had to operate on and follow up for months. We advise our citizens not to try unknown herbs and methods to find healing. We recommend that they follow doctors' advice and always consult a physician in such situations."
