Yerlikaya stated the following in a statement made on his social media account:
"16,329 APPOINTMENTS WERE CANCELED IN ONE DAY"
"The deadline for renewing old-style driver's licenses is October 31, 2025. The renewal process for old-style driver's licenses was initially set to end on December 31, 2024, but due to the high volume, this period was extended by 7 months to July 31, 2025. However, following the extension decision on November 18, 2024, 16,329 citizens canceled their appointments in just one day.
"70% OCCURRED IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS"
The daily number of applications decreased from 55,000 to 20,000. 70% of the renewal applications occurred in the last 3 months.
The number of applications by month is as follows:
January: 140,000
February: 82,000
March: 84,000
April: 101,000
May: 270,000
June: 502,000
July: 1,413,489
"THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER EXTENSIONS: DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 31, 2025"
In just the last 2 days (July 30-31), 236,000 applications were received. Currently, 2,167,713 old-style driver's licenses are waiting to be renewed. Therefore, it was decided to extend the renewal period for old-style driver's licenses for the last time to prevent our citizens from facing difficulties. There will be no further extensions. Deadline: October 31, 2025.
"PLEASE COMPLETE OUR PROCESSES WITHOUT WAITING UNTIL THE LAST DAYS"
