President Erdoğan once again called for a new constitution, stating, "It is essential for Turkey to rid itself of the burden of the coup constitution." Erdoğan's criticism of the opposition, using a famous line from the TV series "Yaprak Dökümü," also drew attention.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with representatives of NGOs in Muğla. Reiterating the call for a new constitution, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey needs to get rid of the coup constitution.
CALL FOR A NEW CONSTITUTION FROM PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN
President Erdoğan criticized the opposition with a famous quote from the series Yaprak Dökümü. Erdoğan said: "In the dynamism of life, expectations and demands are also changing. It is contrary to human nature for a person to remain the same as the world changes. The duty of politics is to produce reasonable answers to questions and problems, and to manage the will for change in the public with the right instruments. Managing change in countries like Turkey, which is afflicted by a coup constitution made 42 years ago, is much more complicated.
"THE OPPOSITION IS IN A MODE OF 'LET'S NOT SPOIL ALİ RIZA BEY'S TASTE'"
For this reason, we insist that it is essential for Turkey to get rid of the burden of the coup constitution. We are making this call not out of concern for the agenda, as the opposition claims, but rather because we see the need for a new constitution for our country. The opposition is doing everything it can to exacerbate the problem. Do they have any proposals for any issue in the country? No. Is there anything in their vocabulary other than 'we don't want it'? No, that too is absent. They are playing politics in a very comfortable area, in a mode of 'let's not spoil Ali Rıza Bey's taste.'
"WE NEED A LIBERTARIAN CONSTITUTION"
Can this country be served by playing tricks, dragging things out, and running away? Is opposition merely about opposing everything and objecting to everything? Even if the opposition turns a deaf ear to our sincere calls, we need a democratic, inclusive, libertarian constitution made by civilians. A new constitution is not a luxury for Turkey; it is a long-overdue necessity.
We are pleased to observe that most of the parties in our Parliament agree on the first four articles. The AK Party's will for a new constitution is strong and dynamic. We hope and desire that the Parliament fulfills what is expected of it in the 28th term. Thus, we will be a little closer to our goal of leaving a free, prosperous, and strong country to our children. It is very important for the business community, civil society, and opinion leaders of Muğla to stand by us.
