The court has announced its decision in the case where Ogün Samast, who killed journalist Hrant Dink in a planned armed attack, was tried for committing crimes on behalf of FETÖ. The court ruled to dismiss the case due to the statute of limitations for seven individuals, including Samast.

The decision was announced in the case with 12 defendants, in which Ogün Samast, the assassin of Agos Newspaper's Editor-in-Chief Hrant Dink, was tried for "committing a crime on behalf of an organization without being a member of a terrorist organization."

STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS DECISION FOR SAMAST AND 6 DEFENDANTS

The court ruled that the case against defendant Ogün Samast would be dismissed due to the statute of limitations, and the judicial control measure of a travel ban would continue.

2 DEFENDANTS SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT

On the other hand, defendants Ali Fuat Yılmazer and Ramazan Akyürek were sentenced to life imprisonment for attempting to overthrow the constitutional order. Adem Sağlam was sentenced to 6 years, 10 months, and 15 days for membership in an organization.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Ogün Samast, who murdered journalist Hrant Dink on January 19, 2007, was released after being detained for 16 years and 10 months. Following the release decision, a new case was opened against Samast for "committing a crime on behalf of an organization without being a member of FETÖ."
