An Air Canada plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Saturday night due to a malfunction in its landing gear. Media outlets reported that the flight AC2259, which took off from St. John's International Airport, experienced issues such as skidding and an engine fire during landing at 09:30 local time (01:30 GMT on Sunday), and emergency crews quickly intervened to ensure the safety of everyone on board. "WE HEARD A NOISE SIMILAR TO A CRASH"Passenger Nikki Valentine told CBC News that one of the plane's tires did not deploy properly during landing; "The plane started to tilt to the left at about a 20-degree angle, and we heard a very loud noise that was almost like a crash when the plane's wing began to skid on the pavement. I suspect this noise came from the engine." NO CASUALTIES REPORTEDThe people on the plane were evacuated and taken to a hangar for examination by health officials. No casualties were reported. Meanwhile, footage recorded by a passenger on the plane went viral. FLIGHTS AT THE AIRPORT SUSPENDEDFollowing the incident, flights at Halifax Airport were temporarily suspended as a precaution, while one runway reopened early on Sunday.
