In the coming days, with the 11th Judicial Package planned to be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the maximum prison sentence for offenders who are over 15 but under 18 years old will be increased from 24 years to 27 years for aggravated life imprisonment.

With the 11th Judicial Package prepared by AK Party members of parliament, the upper limit of the prison sentence given to individuals who are over 15 years old but under 18 years old will be increased from 24 years to 27 years instead of aggravated life imprisonment.

NEW REGULATION ON PUNISHMENTS FOR JUVENILE OFFENDERS

Members of the AK Party's Justice Commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and legal experts continue their work on the legislative proposal known to the public as the "11th Judicial Package" under the leadership of Group Chairman Abdullah Güler.

The legislative proposal, which is planned to be submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in the coming days, will include regulations regarding prison sentences given to juvenile offenders.

According to the proposal, amendments will be made to Article 31 of the Turkish Penal Code titled "Minor Age."

UPPER LIMIT OF PUNISHMENT WILL BE INCREASED FROM 24 YEARS TO 27 YEARS

The upper limit of the prison sentence given to individuals who are over 15 years old but under 18 years old will be increased from 24 years to 27 years instead of aggravated life imprisonment, and the upper limit of the prison sentence of 12 years for life imprisonment will be raised to 18 years. Thus, for individuals who were over 15 years old but under 18 years old at the time of the offense, if the crime requires aggravated life imprisonment, the prison sentence will be between 18 years and 27 years, and if it requires life imprisonment, the sentence will be between 12 years and 18 years.

NO DISCOUNTS WILL BE MADE IN THESE CASES

In the sentences to be given to children aged 15-18 who commit the crime of intentional murder, no discounts will be made in cases where the severity of the intent-based fault, the purpose pursued, the manner of committing the crime, and previous convictions for intentional crimes are present.
