In the Kuşadası district of Aydın, the endemic plant species 'tülüşah', which is at risk of extinction, has bloomed. It was noted that the penalty for picking 'tülüşah' is 557,000 TL. Bahattin Sürücü, the President of the Ecosystem Protection and Nature Lovers Association, stated, "It is only possible to protect the Tülüşahs, which have become a symbol of Kuşadası, and their habitats, and to carry them into the future together."
The endemic 'Tülüşah' (Aydın Gaşağı), named after the ancient name of the Samson Mountains, which also includes the Dilek Peninsula National Park, has bloomed this year for the first time in the olive groves designated as park areas in the zoning plans and under the responsibility of municipalities. Information was provided to the relevant municipalities and the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks to prevent damage to the plants located between the sites. It was stated that the penalty for picking 'Tülüşah' is 557 thousand TL.
"THEY WILL DISPLAY ALL THEIR BEAUTIES IN A SHORT TIME" Bahattin Sürücü, the President of EKODOSD, who made a statement on the subject, said, "Tülüşah, which is classified as 'CR' (Critically Endangered) in the IUCN Red List, shows distribution starting from Yaylaköy, where it is commonly seen, to the slopes of Soğucak extending towards the sea. Due to climatic conditions in these regions, it has been observed that they have not yet bloomed, but we predict that they will display all their beauties in a short time as the temperatures rise. It is also found in Davutlar road, İkiçeşmelik, Taşocağı road, and Güvercinada, where there are fewer individuals," he said.
"A GREAT LUCK" Sürücü stated that Tülüşahs are monitored and protected under the Species Protection Action Plan prepared by the Aydın Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate, and drew attention to the fact that some plants in certain areas have completely disappeared due to construction and filling works before the plan. Sürücü said, "These mistakes should not be repeated. To prevent the remaining endemic plants from disappearing, it is necessary to ensure that they are not adversely affected by anthropogenic impacts, to take necessary protective measures, to erect informative and warning signs in the areas where the plant is found, and to include notes in the zoning plans indicating the presence of this species."
It is a great luck that the endemic species Tülüşah has reached us so far within the sites in Kuşadası. The important thing is to be able to protect the habitat of this plant primarily. The ecological structure of the region must be examined in every planned project. The protection and future preservation of Tülüşahs, which have become a symbol of Kuşadası, and their habitats can only be achieved together," he said.
