Famous television presenter Cansu Canan Özgen was defrauded in December 2023. The suspect, Mustafa A., called the famous presenter using a number similar to a bank's and gave instructions under the pretext of account security. Following the instructions, Özgen was defrauded of 450,000 lira by the suspect Mustafa, who accessed her private banking information.
As soon as Özgen realized the situation, she contacted the bank officials, had her accounts blocked, and rushed to the prosecutor's office. In her statement, the famous presenter indicated that an attack was carried out against her personal rights and that she suffered both material and moral damage.
10 YEARS REQUESTED
After the investigation was initiated, the suspect Mustafa A. was captured, taken into custody, and was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to prison. A case was opened against Mustafa A. with a request for 10 years in prison for the crime of 'qualified fraud.'
CONVICTED OF TWO CRIMES
According to a report by Sabah, in the trial held at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court, the defendant Mustafa A. was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison, and he was also ordered to pay a fine of 417,000 lira.
