A cold air wave coming from Siberia continues to have an impact across the country. While snowfall continues in many provinces, it is predicted that the cold air wave will remain effective in the coming week.
SNOW IS COMING TO ISTANBUL AGAIN
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) announced that snowfall is expected to be effective in Istanbul starting from Monday. AKOM stated, "While cold and rainy weather of Siberian origin continues to affect almost the entire country, it is predicted that temperatures across the province will continue to remain between 5-8 degrees, in winter values, throughout the coming week."
HOW WILL THE WEATHER BE TODAY?
According to the forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: The general weather of our country is expected to be partly and very cloudy, with intermittent rain in the eastern Marmara, Western Black Sea, Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts, as well as in the regions of Tokat, Artvin, Balıkesir, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, and the eastern part of Hakkari. It is expected that the precipitation will be rain in the Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts and around Istanbul, and mixed rain and snow in other places receiving precipitation. The wind is expected to blow strongly and in short bursts (40-70 km/h) from the north in the Marmara and Aegean coasts. Frost and freezing, along with fog and local mist, are expected in the inner and eastern regions during the night and morning hours. There is a risk of avalanche in the high areas of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the steep slopes of Eastern Anatolia.
AIR TEMPERATURE: It is predicted that there will be no significant change in air temperatures, and they will continue to remain below seasonal norms across our country.
WIND: The wind is expected to blow generally from the north and northeast lightly, occasionally at moderate strength, and strongly and in short bursts (40-70 km/h) in the Marmara and Aegean coasts.
WARNING FOR STRONG WINDS, AVALANCHES, AND FROST
The Meteorology stated that due to the expected strong and short bursts of wind (40-70 km/h) from the north in the Marmara and Aegean coasts, precautions should be taken against possible adverse conditions. It also emphasized that due to the risk of avalanche in the high areas of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the steep slopes of Eastern Anatolia, as well as the expected frost and freezing in the inner and eastern parts of the country, precautions should be taken against possible adverse conditions.
