Following the murder of two women at the walls, Umut Başak, who mocked the incident and said, "I'm in Iraq, you can't find me," was captured and arrested. The video Başak shared on social media drew significant backlash. The individual, who was arrested by the Gerger Peace Criminal Court, was handed over to the Diyarbakır juvenile prison.
Umut Başak, who shares posts on Instagram under the username 'warlearned', drew reactions with his statements glorifying the murders committed by Semih Çelik, who is referred to as the wall killer. In his posts, Başak used alarming expressions regarding femicides, saying, "Who are the women you are talking about? The ones we threw from these walls?"

These posts, which drew great backlash from social media users and were met with a flood of comments, prompted security forces to take action. As a result of the efforts of the Cyber, Intelligence, and Child Branch Departments of the Adıyaman Police Department, it was determined that the person making the posts was Umut Başak. He was taken into custody for sharing content related to "Undermining the Sovereignty Symbols of the State and Praising Crime and Criminals, Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility" on social media. Umut Başak, who was taken into custody at his home, was transferred to the Diyarbakır Juvenile Prison due to his age.
