A British Airways pilot has been suspended after allegedly assaulting three female flight attendants while intoxicated.
The assistant pilot, who is in his 50s and married, is said to have had an angry outburst during a night out between flights.
The incident began on flight BA057 from Heathrow to South Africa. The pilot reportedly argued with his 25-year-old girlfriend, who was traveling on a discounted ticket.
Afterwards, the pilot returned to the crew hotel in Johannesburg, where he encountered three colleagues at the bar - a cabin manager, a first-class cabin crew member, and an in-flight leader.
Security personnel at the Marriott Hotel had to accompany the pilot to his room as he was having difficulty standing.
The next day, the crew members refused to perform the return flight if the pilot was in the cockpit.
As a result, the pilot was sent back to his country in shame as a passenger on another flight.
The father of two is currently being kept away from flights during the investigation.
British Airways executives are becoming increasingly concerned about uncontrolled behavior between flights.
Johannesburg is gaining a reputation as a popular entertainment destination for airline staff.
