A police vehicle in Şişli severely injured two pedestrians by trapping them against a wall while reversing. One person died in the incident, and it was revealed that the police officer involved in the accident did not have a driver's license. LOST LIFE UNDER THE POLICE VEHICLEAccording to the information obtained, the accident occurred in Şişli, 19 Mayıs Neighborhood, in front of Cevahir Shopping Mall. The police vehicle, driven by G.U., lost control while reversing and hit two citizens on the sidewalk, trapping them against a wall. Ergül Kaya, who was severely injured in the accident, lost his life. The other injured citizen is currently receiving medical treatment. POLICE OFFICER SUSPENDED FROM DUTYA statement was made by the Istanbul Police Department regarding the incident. The statement mentioned that the police officer involved in the accident has been suspended from duty. The statement included the following remarks: "As a result of a traffic accident that occurred on 10.09.2024 at around 08:30 in Şişli district, 19 Mayıs Neighborhood, in front of Cevahir Shopping Mall, which resulted in negligent homicide-injury; G.U., a police officer, lost control of the vehicle he was driving in reverse, causing injuries to individuals named E.K. (43) and A.T. (24) who were taken to the hospital. Despite all interventions, E.K. could not be saved and lost his life. The police officer G.U., who was involved in the accident while reversing, has been suspended from duty, and the investigation and inquiry procedures regarding the accident are ongoing from both a legal and administrative perspective."
