HUNGER AND POVERTY THRESHOLD ANNOUNCED
The results of TÜRK-İŞ's "Hunger and Poverty Threshold Research," conducted monthly to reveal the living conditions of workers and to determine the impact of price changes in basic necessities on family budgets, were announced for November 2025.
HUNGER THRESHOLD NEARS 30 THOUSAND, POVERTY THRESHOLD AT 97 THOUSAND LIRA
According to the research, the "hunger threshold," which represents the amount of food expenditure required for a family of four to eat healthily, balanced, and sufficiently, was 29,828 lira in November. The "poverty threshold," which corresponds to the total amount of other necessary expenditures for food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, health, and similar needs, was calculated at 97,159 lira.
SINGLE PEOPLE'S LIVES ARE TOUGH
The "cost of living" for a single worker was 38,752 lira per month. According to the research, while there was an increase in milk prices, no significant changes were detected in the prices of cheese and yogurt. The prices of minced meat and cubed meat remained the same in the group containing meat, chicken, fish, eggs, and dry legumes. It was determined that the prices of the most consumed fish products, such as anchovies and horse mackerel, decreased. The price per kilogram of chicken meat also fell this month. The price per egg remained unchanged this month.
In the dry legumes group, the price of red lentils increased again this month, while the prices of chickpeas, dry beans, and green lentils remained the same. In the group containing products such as bread, rice, flour, pasta, bulgur, and semolina, the price of bread remained unchanged. However, a slight increase was observed in the prices of pasta and rice, while bulgur was the product that showed the most increase within the product group this month.
PRICES OF BLACK AND GREEN OLIVES INCREASED
In the group containing basic oil products, while the prices of sunflower oil and butter remained relatively unchanged this month, the price per kilogram of margarine increased again. The fluctuating price of olive oil continued this month.
It was observed that the prices of black and green olives increased, while no significant changes were seen in oilseed products. In the last group of food items, the prices of spice products remained the same.
The prices of tea and linden remained unchanged. Among other products, the price per kilogram of jam decreased, while the prices of honey and sugar remained the same. There was also an increase in the price per kilogram of tomato paste this month.
