Syrian President Ahmed Shara addressed the Syrian people after the final lifting of the Caesar Sanctions, issuing a congratulatory message and thanking the leaders of countries that supported the process. Among the leaders Shara thanked is President Erdoğan.
After years of paralyzing the Syrian economy and daily life, the first comprehensive message from Damascus came following the lifting of the Caesar Sanctions. President Ahmed Shara described the end of the sanctions as "a new beginning," congratulating the Syrian people and thanking Turkey, the USA, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia for their contributions to the process.
"I CONGRATULATE THE SYRIAN PEOPLE WHO RESISTED WITH PATIENCE"
In his first statement on the social media account on the US-based X platform, President Shara highlighted the resilience of the Syrian people who have paid a heavy price since the sanctions began. Shara praised the people's patience and determination, stating, "I wholeheartedly congratulate the Syrian people who have resisted since the first day of the sanctions."
SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE REVOLUTION
In his post, Shara also addressed the pains experienced during the Syrian revolution, remembering those who lost their lives and those who were victimized, saying:
"I thank those who drowned at sea, those whose breath was taken away by chemical weapons, those who were displaced, and everyone who resisted with patience."
THANKS TO PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN
President Shara extended special thanks to certain world leaders for their support in the process of lifting the Caesar Sanctions. In his statement, he expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT MESSAGE
Shara thanked the Arab, Islamic, and European countries that stood by the Syrian people during the revolution, emphasizing the importance of international solidarity.
At the end of his message, President Shara addressed the Syrian people, stating that a new era has begun, and said:
"Dear Syrian people, today is your day. The period of suffering is behind us. Together, hand in hand, we will build this homeland until we elevate it to the highest ranks."
SANCTIONS LIFTED UNDER NDAA
US President Donald Trump had formalized the process by signing the $901 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2026, which included the lifting of sanctions against Syria.
