A significant development has occurred that closely concerns holders of green passports. A proposal to expand the scope of the green passport has been submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). If this proposal is accepted, certified public accountants and sworn financial advisors will also become holders of green passports.

The bill proposing the issuance of special stamped passports (green passports) to certified public accountants and sworn financial advisors has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The proposal, prepared by İzmir Deputy Mustafa Bilici, aims to overcome the visa obstacles faced by professionals during their international travels.

10 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

According to the proposal, certified public accountants and sworn financial advisors who have practiced their profession for at least 10 years will be entitled to obtain a green passport. This regulation aims to facilitate the participation of professionals in international meetings and their activities abroad.

INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION OF PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES EMPHASIZED

Accountants and financial advisors undertake important responsibilities such as auditing on behalf of the public, financial reporting, tax declaration, and combating the informal economy. Conducting these duties on an international scale necessitates the overseas travel of professionals. The right to a green passport will eliminate the visa barriers encountered during these travels, enabling more effective execution of professional activities.

THE BILL IS ON THE AGENDA OF THE ASSEMBLY

The bill sent to the Interior Commission is expected to be discussed in the General Assembly of the Parliament in the coming days. If the proposal is accepted, accountants and financial advisors will gain the right to a green passport.
