Former AK Party Member of Parliament Mehmet Metiner, after his meeting with the former co-chair of the HDP, Selahattin Demirtaş, who is currently detained in Edirne, responded to the question, "Is Selahattin Demirtaş expecting to be released?" by saying, "I believe that the process of laying down arms is more important than personal demands. Demirtaş thinks so too."
The terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan's call for disarmament has led to another critical development. Former AK Party Member of Parliament Mehmet Metiner visited the former co-chair of the HDP, Selahattin Demirtaş, who is imprisoned in Edirne.
'IS DEMİRTAŞ EXPECTING RELEASE?' RESPONSE
After the meeting, Metiner made striking statements during a broadcast on Ekol TV. Responding to the question of whether Demirtaş is expecting release in light of the process, Metiner said, "I find even the mention of this to be wrong. I assume that the disarmament process should be prioritized over any personal demands. I believe that expressing this is harmful."
Metiner also stated, "Demirtaş believes it is harmful as well. I assume he sees the expression of such expectations regarding him as extremely harmful. This is what we concluded from our conversations. Ours was a personal meeting. However, Demirtaş has no such expectation or demand. He said that expressing such expectations regarding him, as if everyone inside would be released with the process, would harm the process."
HE HAD GONE TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HIS WIFE WAS RECEIVING TREATMENT WITH SPECIAL PERMISSION
Following Öcalan's call, Selahattin Demirtaş, the former co-chair of the HDP, who is imprisoned in Edirne, accompanied his wife Başak Demirtaş, who underwent surgery at a hospital in Istanbul, with special permission. This was the first time Demirtaş had provided a photo from the hospital after a long time.
BAHÇELİ HAD CALLED DEMİRTAŞ
On the other hand, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, also called Selahattin Demirtaş by phone, and their conversation lasted five minutes.
