While the trial of the "Newborn Gang," which caused the deaths of emergency infant patients in Istanbul by transferring them to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had previously agreed upon, continues, the defendant Hasan Basri Gök was asked, "Does 112 have a role in this matter?" The lawyer for the Ministry of Health objected to the question. The court panel accepted the objection, and the question was not asked.

In Istanbul, 47 defendants, 22 of whom are in custody, appeared before the judge for the first time yesterday, accused of unlawfully profiting by transferring babies to the neonatal units of contracted private hospitals and causing their deaths through negligent behavior. The trial of the defendants is continuing today.

QUESTION CHALLENGED BY THE MINISTRY'S LAWYER

During the hearing that has gripped Turkey, defendant Hasan Basri Gök was asked, "Does 112 have a role in this matter?" (related to the transfers). However, the lawyer for the Ministry of Health objected to the question. The court panel accepted the objection, and the question was not asked.
