Heavy rainfall in the city of Erbil, Iraq, negatively affected daily life. While many roads in the city were submerged, some vehicles became stranded in the water.
ROADS FILLED WITH WATER
According to reports from AA correspondent in the region, puddles formed on streets and avenues after the rain. Vehicles struggling to move on the roads had to stop, and drivers experienced difficult moments.
The roads around the market area in the Seydava neighborhood of Erbil were closed to traffic due to floodwaters. Some drivers who parked their vehicles in the area found their cars submerged when they returned after the rain.
VEHICLES SUBMERGED IN WATER
Some drivers who noticed the rising water level during the rain managed to pull their vehicles from where they were. However, some vehicles that were not in the area were completely submerged.
Officials from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) warned citizens about the rain, urging them not to go out in traffic unless absolutely necessary.
UNDERPASSES WITHOUT WATER DRAINAGE CHANNELS ARE RISKY
Underpasses in the city that do not have water drainage channels pose a risk for both drivers and pedestrians. Authorities are warning against parking vehicles in such areas during rainy weather.
Despite this, it is reported that some drivers, citing their short-term tasks, have ignored the warnings and continued to park their vehicles in prohibited areas.
