The inflation data for June, which TÜİK will announce on Friday, July 3, will finalize the raise rate for civil servants and retirees in the second half of the year. The announced data will directly affect 25 million people in addition to civil servants and retirees. While the direct inflation raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in July is expected to reach 17.81 percent, the raise rate for civil servants and retired civil servants will reach 13.56 percent. Here are the salaries increased according to these rates...
Breaths are held for the June inflation figure, which is the last inflation data for the first half of the year. The rates, to be shared with the public by TÜİK on Friday, July 3, will determine the salary increases and social benefits that a large segment of Turkey will receive starting in July.
Based on the inflation rates for the first five months of the year (January 4.84%, February 2.96%, March 1.94%, April 4.18%, May 1.71%), the five-month cumulative inflation was recorded at 16.60%. With this rate, the 16.60% raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees has already been finalized, while the final picture will be drawn with the June data.
ECONOMISTS' JUNE EXPECTATION IS 1.04 PERCENT
Expectations of market experts and economists regarding the June inflation have also taken shape. The average estimate of 17 economists participating in the expectation survey was 1.04 percent.
If June inflation aligns with these expectations, the direct inflation raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in July is projected to reach 17.81 percent.
A 13.56 PERCENT RAISE IN STORE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND RETIRED CIVIL SERVANTS
For civil servants and retired civil servants, whose salary increases are calculated with a formula of collective bargaining raise and inflation difference, figures are becoming clearer. Having pocketed a 7% raise from the collective agreement for the second half of the year, civil servants will also receive an inflation difference as the first six-month inflation exceeds this rate.
Having guaranteed a 12.41% increase based on the five-month data, the raise rate for civil servants and retired civil servants will reach a total of 13.56% if June inflation comes in parallel with expectations (1.04%), with the inflation difference rising to 6.13%.
CONCERNS APPROXIMATELY 25 MILLION PEOPLE
The salary coefficients to be determined in July directly affect not only salaried employees and retirees, but also low-income citizens receiving social support payments from the state.
Vital social support payments such as disability pensions, home care assistance, and elderly allowance (65 years and over), which are calculated based on civil servant salary coefficients, will also be increased at the same rate with the announced figure. This critical data will directly determine the income of approximately 2 million social aid beneficiaries, totaling nearly 25 million citizens.
